This month our team had the privilege of visiting Eppendorf ’s Framingham headquarters for a behind-the-scenes tour of their impressive showroom and it did not disappoint!
It was fantastic to put faces to names, hear directly from the Eppendorf team, and walk away with not only technical tips, but a deeper appreciation for the people behind the brand. From catalog review to day-to-day maintenance tips straight from their field service experts, this visit gave us valuable knowledge to better support our clients who rely on Eppendorf equipment every day.
Huge thanks to the Eppendorf team for hosting us and sharing your time and expertise, it was a day full of learning, laughs, and great conversation.
Product Education and Hands-On Experience
We all appreciated the opportunity for hands-on interaction with ther products, particularly the Cell Xpert incubators.
It was helpful to learn the distinctions between these and other commonly used models, especially the lack of a HEPA filter (reducing consumable replacement needs) and the role of the CO₂ line filter
How airflow is managed during freezer auto-lock was particularly informative.
Service and Maintenance Enhancements
We learned how to maintain and troubleshoot products like centrifuges, freezers, and shakers, which was especially valuable. For example:
How to release internal pressure on a -80°C freezer
Best practices for opening centrifuge lids during power outages
Disassembling freezer doors for cleaning
Avoiding grease in centrifuge spokes to prevent hardware lockups
How to identify when centrifuge software updates are needed before ordering new hubs
Using a paint brush to dust off equipment vents for improved airflow and ventilation
Product Innovations
We found the autoclavable hand pipettors (now with polycarbonate plungers) to be a stand-out innovation.
The team appreciated learning that Eppendorf offers pipette calibrations for any brand.
Team Impressions
Across the board, our team enjoyed engaging in open discussions about equipment pain points and best practices.
Eppendorf’s team was not only knowledgeable, but incredibly passionate about their mission, and it showed!!
A few team members highlighted how they now feel more confident in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment in client labs thanks to your thorough and thoughtful walkthroughs.
